What this is

Honest Advice Inc. operates this website and, in future, a subscription service. These terms cover your use of the site as it exists today. They will be extended before any subscription opens, and you will be asked to accept the extended version at that point.

What we provide

General educational information about investment costs, risk, and how the Canadian investment industry is paid, together with tools that perform arithmetic on numbers you supply yourself.

What we do not provide

This is the most important section on the page.

  • We do not provide investment advice tailored to your circumstances.
  • We do not manage, hold, or have access to your money.
  • We do not recommend, endorse, or rate any security, fund, product, or firm.
  • We do not tell you what to buy, sell, or hold, and we will not do so if you ask.
  • We do not provide legal, tax, or accounting advice.

Honest Advice Inc. is not registered with any securities regulator in Canada and is not seeking registration. Nothing on this site should be read as a recommendation or as advice about your particular situation. Decisions about your money are yours, and you should consider taking them to a registered professional who can properly assess your circumstances.

The figures on this site

Every financial figure shown is an illustration produced by arithmetic from assumptions that are stated wherever the figure appears. They are not forecasts, projections, or guarantees. Actual returns vary, actual fees vary, and past results tell you nothing reliable about future ones. We publish the method precisely so you can check it yourself, and we encourage you to.

Accuracy

We take care to be accurate and we correct mistakes publicly on the open book. Even so, the site is provided as it is, without warranty, and we are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of it. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Canadian law.

Your use of the site

Use it for your own purposes. Do not attempt to break it, scrape it at volume, or use it to send unsolicited messages. The words, design, and code are ours, but you are welcome to print the question sheet, share it, and hand it to anybody, which is what it is for.

Pricing

The price shown, $39.95 a month, is our intended price at launch. Subscriptions are not open and no payment is being taken. Pricing and features may change before launch, and if they do we will say so.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the laws of Canada that apply there.
